How do you know when you're ready to use an evergreen webinar funnel to sell your course or high ticket program?
This is a great question and it's one that we're going to tackle today so you know if it's too early — or the perfect time! — for you to use an evergreen webinar funnel for your business. I help online entrepreneurs create sales systems that sell their offers for them with less work on their part. And today we're going to cover how to know when you're ready because I definitely have people that reach out to me to set up a sales funnel for them when they are actually not ready to use an evergreen webinar for their funnel. There are 6 things that I want to talk about that will help you to determine if you're ready to set up an evergreen webinar funnel for your business.
(And then one bonus item!)
1. You Have A Proven Course Or Program
The first thing is that you need to have a proven offer. If you haven’t created the program that you want to put into a funnel, then you're not yet ready for an evergreen webinar funnel. (Kind of self explanatory, but you’d be amazed how many discovery calls I have with people who are “brainstorming an idea” that they want to put into an evergreen funnel “next month or so”)
You need to have actually run at least one cohort through this course or this coaching program so that you know this is a proven and tested offer. There are so many things that we're going to be testing with the funnel itself. So we need to know that the offer is solid before we start testing all the steps to drive people to that offer. Unlike a live webinar on an open/close cart live launch, where you might be pre-selling an offer that hasn't fully been created yet, we're doing a beta run. That is not how you're going to run an evergreen webinar funnel.
When I jump in and do the research portion of my funnel package for my clients, I like knowing that I can get on a call with at least 7 to 10, or even 15, of their previous customers to get some solid case studies and market research on who this program is going to be marketed to.
So that's your first step: knowing that you have proven your program. If you can't check that box, then set this on your to-do list for maybe 6 months down the line. And for right now, just work on proving the value and the transformation you create with your course or your program.
2: You're Already Making Money From Your Offer But Want Consistent Monthly Revenue
Second, you should already be hitting some sales benchmarks or a t least getting close with your program.,
If you're selling this on an evergreen basis, or if you're doing a live launch once a quarter and you're hitting at least $10,000 per live launch, and you want to scale this (you would love to be hitting $7,000-$10,000 a month on this evergreen funnel once it's up and running, or more), you’re ready.
The reason why I want to talk about money (because I know that people are really uncomfortable talking about money) is because it's very individual based on the business and your needs. It will take time and effort; often, if you're going to bring on a team like mine to help set up an evergreen webinar funnel, you're not going to get the full return on that investment for 3-6 months down the line.
So if you are not already making income from this program or another revenue stream, or if you're not doing launches that are making you income on a quarterly or bi-annual basis, then you're probably not yet ready to invest in setting up the funnel.
3: You Have Good Organic Reach
You need to have good organic reach before launching an evergreen webinar funnel. Now “good organic reach” is relative depending on your niche, but you need to definitely have at least 1,000 people or more on your email list. And if you don't use email heavily, I want to see that you have at least 3,000 followers or more on your combined social media platforms and/or you need to have good traffic to your website.
That’s because before we think about turning on paid advertising to run more people through this funnel, you're going to want at least 1,000 clicks (aka people) to run through the funnel to test out how the it’s is converting before you turn on paid traffic. This will take a loooooooong time if you don’t have much in the way of followers yet. Which leads me to point #4…
4. You Want To Run Tests To Find What Works Best For Your Audience
WARNING: Mini-rant ahead!
One thing that I hate seeing is entrepreneurs wasting a bunch of money on paid ads before they get their funnel set up correctly and know that it's converting in the first place.
That's just a huge pit they’re throwing money into hoping a unicorn will fly out of it with bags of cash to dump in their lap.
In order: what you need to do first is set up the funnel and TEST it. Make sure that it's converting for at least one month or at least 1,000 clicks. I want you to test it for that many impressions and see what your conversion rates are on your funnel. If you're making close to your sales goals, great. THEN let's go talk to the ads manager about paid traffic.
If you're way below your sales goals, then it's not the time to set up paid ads yet. You need to make some improvements to your funnel and tighten that up first.
5. You’re Prepared to Invest in Ads ONLY AFTER You’ve Tested Organic and Affiliate Traffic
I will be the first one to tell you that I am NOT an Ads expert — I hire out for that and refer my clients to do the same. But I can tell you that I never recommend making that investment until they’ve gone through the testing process I outlined above.
You need to have a benchmark that you're trying to hit with your revenue so that after you prove the funnel works with organic traffic and then you go to look at paid traffic, you can tell the ads manager what your revenue goals are that you want to hit.
If they know how much revenue you're hoping to hit and what your organic traffic looks like, they can give you a better idea of what your ad spend is going to be to take you to that ultimate revenue goal with paid traffic.
6. You’re Here For The Long Haul
One more thing: if you're ready for an evergreen webinar funnel, you have the long game in mind.
An evergreen webinar funnel is not a quick buck that you can make on the Internet. An evergreen webinar funnel is something that you need to plan on using for at least 6 months to test it out and to see how it works for your business and how you like the flow of having those sales coming in on autopilot in the background.
So if you're hoping for something that's going to give you a gigantic $100,000 boost in sales in one week to get some creditors off your back, this is probably not the technique for you. But if you do want to increase your sales by 5 or even 6 figures over the course of a year or longer and you have that long game in mind, then this could be a great tool for your revenue, for your business.
